DESCRIPTION: APW - Hamilton, Grade 947 (marked), 23J, 18S, gold-filled original HC, Montgomery white enamel DS dial, SW-LS, fully capped lever escapement, jeweled barrel arbor, ornate nickel damascene, s#163936. A superb example of this rare top grade hunting case, the total production of the Grade 947 is 310 made and this particular serial number is listed in the Hamilton factory ledger as having been sold on April 21st, 1914 to the Non-Retailing Co. of Lancaster, PA. CONDITION: Mvt: Running a bit sluggishly, overhaul recommended, very near mint cosmetic mvt condition overall, superb lustrous surfaces, very small bit of abrasion to inner perimeter of barrel bridge adjacent regulator adjustment screw, near pristine otherwise with very few neglibible small micro-fine scratches; flawless dial; excellent-plus hands, some finish loss to tip of minute; case shows very little wear, some typical mild fine and micro-fine scratches, no dents or dings; tight bow, crown shows little wear; good glass crystal.
